Alvor is located in the western side of the Algarve, usually called the Barlavento. You can get to Alvor by road, by sea or by air through Faro airport. Faro airport is located 4Km from Faro, the capital city of the Algarve in Portugal.

Travel from Faro to Alvor by Train: No direct train to Alvor; Get the train to Portimão then a bus to Alvor.
Travel from Faro to Alvor by Bus: No direct bus to Alvor; Get a bus to Portimão then change bus to Alvor.
You can also travel from Faro to Alvor by Taxi or using a Transfer, both available at Faro airport. If you prefer a self drive option and be free to drive yourself along the Algarve without constraints you can hire a car that can be delivered on your arrival at Faro airport. Note that for Transfers or Car Hire it is advisable to make your booking online before you travel to guarantee availability.
Local buses for Alvor
Portimão has a network of local buses that make it very easy to get around the local area very cheaply. The network is called 'Vai e Vem' and serves all the villages and locations around Alvor.
You can also reach Alvor by ground (road or train) if you are already in Portugal coming from the North.
If coming by sea you can find port facilities in Portimão Marina or Lagos Marina or even in Alvor bay.
Flying directly to Alvor is also possible for small / medium aircrafts using the Aeródromo Municipal de Portimão in Montes de Alvor, just about 2,5 Km from the center of Alvor.
